What is a toy library?
A toy library is like a library, but for toys. Members borrow toys for a period of time, then return them so other families can enjoy them too.
Who is this for?
Families and caregivers with kids 0–5.
Where are you located?
We’re in the planning phase. We’ll start with pop-ups in San Francisco (think: quick pickup/return setups). Locations and dates will be shared via email.
How do I stay updated?
Subscribe on the website. We’ll email about once a month with progress and pop-up announcements.
How will membership work?
Membership gives you access to borrow toys and be part of the Toy Library community. We’ll share the full details once the first pop-ups are scheduled and the workflow is tested.
How many toys can I borrow, and for how long?
Our starting plan is up to 3 toys for up to 4 weeks. We’ll refine this as we learn what works best.
What kinds of toys will you have?
We’re focused on high-use, age-appropriate toys for 0–5. We’re building the collection carefully and will share more as we get closer to the first pop-ups.
Are toys cleaned and safe?
Yes—every toy is inspected and cleaned before it circulates again. We also do not include toys that look like weapons.
What if a piece gets lost?
It happens! We’re parents too; we know Legos vanish and blocks hide under the sofa. We have a straightforward “fair play” policy that focuses on keeping the library functional without stressing you out.
Do you accept toy donations?
Not yet. We’ll announce when we’re ready to accept donations—subscribe for updates so you don’t miss it.
Is there sponsored access?
Yes. If cost is a barrier, we’ll work with you—sponsored memberships will be available, supported by donors and the community.
Can I volunteer?
Not at the moment—we’re keeping the first phase simple. We’ll share opportunities to help as soon as we’re ready.
I have an idea / want to help another way. How can I reach you?
Use the contact page and tell us what you’re thinking. We read everything.
